04 Oct Aigüestortes
Dou You want to spend a wonderful day visiting the National Park Aigüestortes? Here’s how to enjoy one of our favorite areas to go hiking and enjoying nature at its best. In addition, for us it is a privilege to advise you for a visit to a privileged natural area close to our house.
Aigüestortes National Park and Lake Sant Maurici is a genuine representation of the high mountain landscape and is a unique area for its rich flora and fauna.
From Casa Agusti we can visit Aigüestortes National Park and Lake Sant Maurici, located its entrance a mere 25 minutes by car. From this valley we have two entrances to the National Park, a first option, the Sant Nicolau Valley, will allow us to reach one of the most beautiful areas of the park, in our humble opinion, that is the area of Aigüestortes. From Boí, we’ll follow the road towards Caldes. Two and a half kilometers, on the right, we will find the first parking and a forest trail takes us to the park through the hermitage of Sant Nicolau a Romanesque jewel of a single nave and apse. Following this path will pass through the “ruta de la llúdriga”. The otter is an endangered animal in Catalonia, which, thanks to the protection, still persists.
But f you don’t want to walk too much, we can take a taxi Boí which will take us to the plain of Aigüestortes, where we can walk comfortably until the Estany Llong, in the heart of Park, about half an hour. The price of this service, back and forth, around 10 €. It is a very comfortable option we recommend if you have only a few hours to visit the park. If we want to reach with our bike, we can move to the car park Aigüestortes plain.
On the other hand, there is access along the road towards Caldes de Boi, past the village, which will allow us to reach Cavallers. There’s several parkings to leave our car or bike and start to visit the National Park. In Cavallers we can start a tour that will take the shelter of Estany Negre, about 3 hours of road.
Aigüestortes National Park and Lake Sant Maurici is a genuine representation of the high mountain landscape and is a unique area for its rich flora and fauna. From Casa Agusti we will be enjoying forests of fir and black pine centenarians surrounded by more than 200 high mountain lakes. Walking, sunbathing, even up some of the high mountains that make up the terrain, why not, are some of the activities that we can perform.
