Near Vilaller, 20-minute drive, we have the Monastery of Santa Maria de Alaón a Romanesque building from the late eleventh century. Sant Climent de Tahull , the floor of the monastery is a basilical type, which gives the building a certain solemnity, typical of that kind of buildings. Its tower is a square four-story tower. In summer season we have at our disposal a tourist information center near the monastery.
A visit certainly advisable to relive history in a monastery surrounded by a very peaceful environment.
This is a very interesting visit because it allows us to see the evolution of the monastery since 806 in the tolosano Count Bigo commissioned the reorganization was already a functioning monastery in the Visigoth era, through the devastation that resulted in the year 1006, the passage of Abd al-Malik and the Arab conquest of territory. Later in the eleventh century, the monastery becomes dependent on Roda de Isábena and the monastery regained prominence even being rebuilt.
